R&D Engineer Chemical

At NEM Energy, as a R&D engineer you will be working on pushing the decarbonisation of heat transfer, developing new tools and designs. Your primary focus is to investigate the chemical aspects of ammonia cracking, heat transfer fluid degradation, molten salt applications for nuclear and thermal storage, all for large scale industrial use. This includes, for example, electrified reactor designs, catalyst evaluations, material selection and support the thermohydraulic design group. In addition, it is expected that you grow into the go-to person in our company on the chemical aspects of such designs.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

•          Design, develop, and implement chemical aspects and requirements in newly developed heat transfer systems.

•          The ability to absorb new knowledge and translate that to product applications.

•          Analytical skill and the use of creative thinking for problem-solving. 

•          Assume accountability and ownership of your assigned responsibilities. 

•          Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and technicians to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

•          Act as contact person to suppliers and consultants on chemical aspects.

•          Develop system level, subsystem level, and block level design input.

•          Support cross-functional teams including design, product engineering and test engineering.

Candidate requirements

•          Master’s in chemical engineering.

•          0-5 years of experience in chemical engineering, preferably in an industrial environment.

•          Knowledge of main chemical equipment design like reactors, columns, heaters etc.

•          Knowledge thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, catalyst kinematics.

•          Knowledge of mechanical design and material selection is preferred.

•          Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

•          Computer proficiency using Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams).

•          Able to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary work environment.
