The role
As a Researcher Medical Imaging AI, you will drive innovative AI research (machine learning and deep learning) for medical imaging, delivering solutions that can be integrated into Medis products and used for both clinical and research purposes. Your work will align with priorities defined in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process and include proof-of-concept development to support the long-term technology roadmap.

What you will do
Prototype, train, validate, and refine ML/DL models for medical imaging tasks such as segmentation, classification, detection, feature extraction, enhancement, and denoising
Design and implement algorithms and models in Python using frameworks such as PyTorch
Develop and improve automated ML/DL training pipelines, and continuously enhance models using new data and techniques
Define modelling approaches, evaluation strategies, and data usage strategies
Plan and execute rigorous experiments, including hypothesis testing and statistical validation
Collaborate with R&D colleagues, clinical partners, and external collaborators on validation, feedback, and scientific publications
Write maintainable, well-tested code, contribute to code reviews, and support software releases and technical documentation
Ensure solutions meet quality, performance, reproducibility, and regulatory expectations for medical devices
Identify opportunities for patentable innovations
PhD or MSc in AI, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, (Bio)Medical Engineering, Medical Physics, or Electrical Engineering with an imaging focus
Experience developing and evaluating AI models for medical image analysis (segmentation, detection, and classification) using deep learning, machine learning, or computer vision
Software engineering experience in Python and relevant libraries such as PyTorch, NumPy, and SciPy
Familiarity with clinical evaluation metrics and statistical methodology
Medical imaging experience, especially cardiovascular MRI and/or CT, is an advantage
Experience with C++ and imaging toolkits such as ITK and VTK is an advantage
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
