Job summary:  

The Junior Information Security Officer will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s information security programs. This entry-level role involves assisting in monitoring systems for security vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with security policies. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of information security principles and a strong willingness to learn and grow in the field. The role is part of the Security Team that is responsible for overseeing and managing an organization’s information security program and reports to the VP of Engineering. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Maintaining the information security management system (ISMS) 

• Ensuring effective and efficient maintaining of ISO 27001 

• Conducting internal and participating in external ISO 27001 audits 

• Collaborating with IT and other departments to develop, implement and monitor information security policies, procedures and plans 

• Ensuring the organization is compliant with the regulatory requirements and legalizations related to information security 

• Conducting comprehensive risk assessment and defining mitigation measures 

• Overseeing, investigating and responding to security incidents, data breaches or threats 

• Being first point of contact for customers, partners or other external organizations for security notifications or security assessments 

• Conducting security risk assessment of (potential) suppliers 

• Developing and managing disaster recovery procedures 

• Working with other departments to ensure security in new projects and initiatives 

• Developing and implementing role-based security awareness trainings, security newsletters and internal security campaigns 

• Informing, advising and issuing recommendations regarding GDPR compliance 

• Fostering a data protection culture within the organization and helping to implement essential elements of the GDPR 

• Staying up to date on new threats and technologies to continue improving security measures 

• Preparing and presenting security reports to management 

• Managing the day-to-day information security operations 

Skills:  

• HBO/bachelor's degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field 

• Fluent English and Dutch professional proficiency, both spoken and written 

• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and analytical abilities 

• Ability to think critically and identify security risks 

• Ability to conduct risk assessments 

• Ability to stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats and techniques 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced company with the capability of balancing multiple priorities 

• Candidates with following skills have preference: 

• Professional certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) 

• 1-3 years of information security experience, in an internship or full-time role 

• Knowledge/Experience with:

  1. information security management systems 

  2. information security technologies and tools 

  3. incident response protocols and procedures 

  4. creating and enforcing security policies and procedures 

  5. regulatory frameworks such as GDPR 

• Previous experience with information security is not required, you will be trained and provided with the necessary mentorship.
