Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.
Within FM, the Client Solutions Group (CSG) consists of set of specialized derivative experts, one of these is the EMEA Commodity Derivatives Sales team, based in Amsterdam. The Commodity derivatives platform is a key growth pillar of FM globally and especially in EMEA is in the middle of a shift towards a more sustainable product offering for the ING client base.
Your role
With CSG Commodities, you will be a full part of the team and have direct client contact for pitches and trades, and act as key contact point between relationship managers, clients, traders, research, local sales locations throughout EMEA and credit risk. You are responsible to grow the commodity franchise from a P&L perspective, as well as in terms of the sustainable product offering and are required to develop and offer high value add structured solutions to ING’s clients.
Your key responsibilities
You will be the link between clients, commodity trading, credit exposure management, the Wholesale bank sectors (Energy, CF&A, DC, T&L), senior management, and also the different sales locations in EMEA:
- Transact daily with clients in Energy (crude oil, distillates, natural gas), Metals and Carbon markets.
- Manage and grow PnL within ING’s risk appetite for locations & sectors you will be responsible for.
- Prepare pitches and presentations with HVA commodity solutions to clients, sector stakeholders, senior management.
- Empower, develop and motivate the junior team members into HVA commodity experts.
- Support the desk in delivering on the commodities growth plan and steering the strategic priorities.
- Align with commodity trading to ensure commodity sales and trading act as one team.
- ·Be involved in process projects such as the improvement of the DSD platform, the development of capital velocity for commodity exposure and sustainability linked commodity transactions.
- Participate from the commodity sales side in aligning our internal pricing/capital pricing models with the responsible teams.

- Masters degree in econometrics, business economics, financial engineering, and/or CFA or equivalent academics
- Deep knowledge of and experience in financial markets Commodity products (experience of 8 years+)
- Proven track record in commodity derivatives sales and managing Key accounts, with access to decision makers.
- In depth understanding of either Energy and/or Metals (derivatives) markets.
- Carbon or power derivatives experience is considered a plus.
- Empathic team player with excellent communication skills
- Entrepreneurial and commercial drive
- Eager to learn and share knowledge with colleagues, ready to grow junior staff
- Ability to work independently on various transactions/projects at the same time, often under pressure, and to prioritize resources accordingly
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, an additional European language is considered a plus
