Senior Cost Estimator

A senior-level opportunity for an experienced Cost Estimator to support strategic infrastructure and energy transition projects. The role focuses on translating complex, multidisciplinary projects into reliable and predictable cost estimates, enabling high-level decision-making and financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver accurate cost estimates and budgets for large-scale projects (e.g. hydrogen, heat networks, LNG, CO₂ infrastructure).

- Apply and adapt cost estimation methodologies across early and mature project phases.

- Analyze technical designs, materials, schedules, and execution methods to build comprehensive cost models.

- Identify risks, uncertainties, and cost drivers, and clearly communicate their impact.

- Validate and improve cost data, tools, and estimation systems through analysis and site visits.

- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on budget assumptions.

- Support investment decisions by providing financial insights to senior stakeholders and steering committees

Profile

- University degree in a technical discipline.

- 10+ years of experience in oil & gas, process industry, or pipeline/infrastructure projects.

- Strong knowledge of cost estimation methodologies and tools (e.g. ACCE, Cleopatra, CostOS).

- Experience within complex project organizations and multidisciplinary environments.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge assumptions and provide clarity.

- Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in stakeholder interactions.

Additional Information

- Location: Groningen (hybrid working possible).

- Regular travel to project sites (~25%).

- Duration: ASAP (one year)
