Senior Data Engineer

Samba TV tracks streaming and broadcast video across the world with our proprietary data and technology. We are on a mission to fundamentally transform the viewing experience for everyone. In this role, you will define, schedule, and monitor data pipelines to create tools that improve development speed and increase visibility into the availability and properties of our growing collection of datasets. You will work closely alongside Data Science and other team members, leveraging your data expertise to help improve data models and processing algorithms while closely observing the bottlenecks in the development process to gather feedback needed to improve our data platform tools further.

• You will automate existing business processes and support the visualization of key datasets. 
• Work with data scientists and other business partners across Europe to develop tools and frameworks to support self-service analytics. 
• Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of our core systems' data collection, storage, and retrieval processes. 
• You will focus on the performance of individual jobs in our processing pipelines; understanding the algorithms that power them and the trade-offs and bottlenecks that affect their runtime and resource consumption. 
• Besides, you will have a chance to mentor members of other data teams eager to improve their software engineering skills and be a role model who exemplifies coding and software design best practices.

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python.
• Have experience in Javascript or are willing to learn.
• Strong skills in SQL (BigQuery or similar).
• Experience with Apache Spark.
• Commercial experience with cloud computing (preferably AWS or GCP).
• Familiar with CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• You should be comfortable working directly with Data Science, Analytics, and other internal consumers to bridge product requirements with Data Engineering. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and analyze data. 
• Strong work ethic.

• Have a strong mathematical inclination. 
• Familiar with: Kafka, or Snowflake.
• Familiar with: PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and InfluxDB.

• Python and Javascript are our primary languages.
• Amazon Web Services and GCP for computing and storage. 
• Airflow for workflow scheduling.
