About the Opportunity

We are actively seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer, specializing in MySQL, to be a driving force in shaping our AWS-centric environment. Your role goes beyond traditional administration - it's about engineering solutions and processes that underpin our dynamic, high-transaction-rate setting, integral to our mission in cryptocurrency solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Help engineering teams to maximise the performance of their services when interacting with MySQL databases


• Contribute with your engineering expertise to the ongoing development of AWS cloud-based database design and standards, innovating scalable solutions that align with cryptocurrency advancements


• Be the ambassador of best practices and promote their adoption within our engineering community


• Apply advanced techniques to continuously monitor, evaluate and optimize database performance


• Work on developing tools and processes for seamless database migrations, provisioning, and intelligent monitoring


• Maintain database deployment and management through infrastructure as code, optimizing efficiency and consistency


• Ensure adherence to industry regulations, security to highest standards, and development of disaster recovery plans, that ensure organizational resilience in unforeseen challenges

What We Look For

• Proven expertise in database design, normalization, and optimization, with a focus on crafting high-performance MySQL databases


• Hands-on experience with AWS database technologies, including RDS and Aurora


• Extensive experience in MySQL database administration, replication, clustering, and advanced features


• Strong command of SQL, leveraging it to optimize database performance and drive efficient query execution


• In-depth understanding and practical experience in database security principles and compliance standards


• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools within the AWS ecosystem, with a focus on Infrastructure as Code (i.e. Terraform) and leveraging technologies as Docker and Kubernetes


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for working closely with software engineering teams and contributing to the engineering efforts
