Job Description - Senior Software Build Engineer (Bazel)

Help design, build and continuously improve the clients online platform.

Research, suggest and implement new technology solutions following best practices/standards.

Take responsibility for the resiliency and availability of different products.

Requirements

8+ years of relevant experience in software development and build management.

Mandatory hands-on experience in Bazel development.

Work as a Build Specialist within one of the greenhouse engineering teams, typically comprising 6–8 highly skilled professionals.

Responsible for preparing and executing technical work packages, ensuring quality and planning, and designing, developing, and implementing solutions aligned with business requirements and the technical roadmap.

Prepare, plan, and execute technical work packages while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Design, develop, and implement build solutions in line with requirements and the engineering roadmap.

Develop and maintain build systems using Bazel, including rules, macros, platforms, remote build execution (RBE), caching, toolchains, and hermetic builds.

Develop automation and supporting tools using Go and Python.

Support software development, integration, testing, and release processes.

Implement and maintain automated software integration and release pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions.

Work with source control management systems, including Git, GitHub, and ClearCase.

Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.

Strong understanding of Bazel concepts, including rules, macros, platforms, RBE, caching, toolchains, and hermetic builds.

Hands-on programming experience with Go and Python.

Experience with modern software design and development practices, including basic algorithm implementation and test-driven development (TDD/BDD).

Experience with automated software integration and release processes.

Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitHub Actions.

Strong knowledge of source control management systems, particularly Git, GitHub, and ClearCase.

Experience with software development in cloud computing environments.

Development experience with Rust, algorithms, and compilers.

Knowledge of Nix package management.

Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud principles.

Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.

Quality-focused mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to lead by example.

Strong listening, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to articulate technical challenges, solutions, and results clearly to different stakeholders.
