Soft Markets Insights Analyst

What you will be doing

As a Medior Softs Market Insights Analyst, you will contribute to valuable, sought-after expertise across commodity markets. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the depth and quality of Vesper’s intelligence platform, providing trusted insights to users across the globe.

You will independently monitor, analyse, and report on the dynamics of soft commodity markets, helping to build a robust, data-driven understanding of these industries. By working closely with key market players, you will enrich our intelligence and contribute directly to creating more transparency and fairness in the global commodity landscape.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Analyse and interpret key market fundamentals for soft commodities such as cocoa, coffee, orange juice, and sugar, focusing on pricing, futures, production, trade flows, stocks, and consumption trends.


• Deliver weekly market insights and regular updates by combining fundamental analysis, market sentiment, and futures market developments.


• Identify and source new or missing data to continuously enhance the depth, reliability, and uniqueness of Vesper’s market intelligence (e.g., prices, Supply and Demand, market reports)


• Build and maintain a strong network within soft commodity markets to secure high-quality, on the ground insights and validate trends.


• Translate market needs and user feedback into actionable improvements in collaboration with the Product team.


• Lead and manage research initiatives independently, ensuring timely and relevant market analysis for both users and internal stakeholders.


• Be a go-to person for soft commodities within Vesper, supporting colleagues and cross-functional teams with market expertise.


• Participate in webinars, client engagements, and knowledge-sharing sessions to showcase expertise and expand Vesper’s presence in the softs space.

What you will bring 

• 3-4 years of experience in soft commodity markets, covering cocoa, coffee, orange juice, and sugar.


• Good understanding of supply chains, pricing mechanisms, and key market drivers within global soft commodity markets.


• An existing network of relevant market participants, with the willingness and curiosity to expand it further.


• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to navigate large, complex datasets and extract actionable insights.


• Experience producing market analyses and reports with a forward-looking perspective.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.


• Self-motivated and able to manage your own projects, while knowing when to collaborate or ask for input.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities.


• Knowledge of analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R)
