Job Title: Steel Bridge Engineer / Structural Consultant

Location: Utrecht area, with travel to project sites across the Netherlands as required.

Contract: 6 months with the possibility to extend

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Steel Bridge Engineer to join a highly motivated team of technical advisors. In this role, you will provide essential structural expertise for the renovation, replacement, and maintenance of large steel bridges. You will work on complex, high-impact infrastructure projects, ensuring designs meet safety, sustainability, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  Independently review and assess the feasibility of plans, inspection results, and contractor designs.

  
  


• 
  

  Conduct and review structural calculations and recalculations for steel bridges.

  
  


• 
  

  Act as the technical point of contact for project teams and contractors.

  
  


• 
  

  Apply and help improve relevant codes, guidelines, and standards (e.g., for bridges and viaducts).

  
  


• 
  

  Advise on risk assessments and construction execution.

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborate with a team of specialists and contribute to knowledge sharing.

  
  

Essential Requirements:

• 
  

  A completed WO (University) or HBO (University of Applied Sciences) degree in Civil Engineering with a relevant specialization.

  
  


• 
  

  Minimum of 7 years of work experience as an advisor/structural engineer for steel bridges within the last 10 years.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong knowledge of relevant Dutch standards and guidelines for bridges and viaducts.

  
  


• 
  

  Fluency in the Dutch language.

  
  


• 
  

  Willingness to work at project locations throughout the Netherlands.

  
  

Desired Qualifications:

• 
  

  Demonstrated experience with the recalculation and verification of steel bridges.

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge and experience in fatigue calculations.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong advisory, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and with organizational sensitivity.
