Partnering with major names like Nvidia, DuckDuckGo, Discord, and Ubisoft, we are shaping the future of gaming and network technology.

Why your role matters

As Systems Engineering Manager – Global Systems, you’ll lead a team of ~7 engineers to manage and optimize the core infrastructure that keeps things running smoothly across regions. Your role is key in ensuring our systems and platforms are reliable, scalable, and efficient, playing a major part in the success of product releases. With a primary focus on the hardware team, while remaining flexible as the discipline evolves, you’ll steer the technical direction, drive innovation, and uphold high standards to support both business and technical goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Lead a team of system engineers working with Infrastructure-as-Code driven systems, Linux, Windows, Virtual Machines, Containers and network. Build strong relationships, mentor your team, and support their growth with regular one-on-ones and feedback. Create a positive, balanced work environment that boosts morale and performance.

  • Craft Leadership: Own the technical direction for infrastructure systems management globally, ensuring it aligns with company goals and contributes constructively to our product teams while maintaining high standards. Lead by example, setting best practices in system design, maintenance, and optimization.

  • Delivery Methods: Streamline and elevate delivery processes to ensure smooth project execution and value generation in our product teams. Collaborate with product leads and other teams to align goals, timelines, and KPIs. Keep an eye on performance and continuously improve delivery processes.

  • Problem-Solver: Tackle challenges across people, processes, and technology. Remove roadblocks, encourage collaboration, and make sure the team has what they need to stay productive and successful.

  • Performance Management: Oversee performance reviews, compensation, and promotions. Lead recruiting and hiring efforts to build a strong, high-performing global team.

Tech stack

At i3D.net, you and your team will work with:

  • Infrastructure & Tools: Linux (mainly Debian and Alpine), containers & Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions workflows, ArgoCD

  • Middleware: nginx, OpenSearch, RabbitMQ

  • Databases: MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis/Keydb, ClickhouseDB

  • Observability: Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry

What success looks like in the first year

  • You've built a solid, high-performing team that works well together and consistently delivers great results.

  • Thanks to your efforts, infrastructure systems run smoothly, with efficient workflows that keep projects on track and drive ongoing improvements.

  • Your focus on collaboration and communication has played a big role in successful product releases.

  • Your leadership has helped make the infrastructure stable and scalable, ready to handle both today's needs and future growth.

  • You've also led hiring and performance management, bringing in top talent and keeping the team motivated.

About you

  • Engineering experience: You’ve led infrastructure teams (Linux, Windows, virtualization, Kubernetes) and delivered large-scale projects in distributed environments, with a strong Linux systems background.

  • Leadership Skills: You motivate engineers, give clear feedback, and positively influence your team, peers, and stakeholders.

  • Working in complex, bare-metal environments: You have experience working in on-prem and bare-metal environments with shifting priorities, and bring structure while balancing multiple stakeholders.

  • Leadership and influence: You create an environment where engineers can grow, perform, and stay engaged by giving clear feedback and direction. You influence not only your own team but also peers and stakeholders across the organization.

  • Problem solving and execution: You quickly identify issues across people, processes, and technology, and remove blockers to keep teams moving forward in a pragmatic way.

  • Communication: You communicate clearly with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment even in complex and evolving environments.

  • Hiring and development: You know how to attract and hire strong engineers, build balanced teams, and support individual growth while keeping everyone aligned with business goals.

  • Technical foundation: You have hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation, working with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub Actions.

  • Modernization mindset: You’ve contributed to or driven the transition towards more modern ways of working, including Infrastructure-as-Code, and understand that this is an ongoing journey rather than a finished state.

  • Remote vs Onsite: This is a hybrid role, so you'll spend some time working onsite at our Rotterdam office. If you're already in the Netherlands, great! If not, we're happy to support your move with our relocation services (a valid EU work permit is required).

Why Join i3D.net?

  • Global Impact: You’ll be responsible for optimizing and maintaining critical infrastructure across the globe, with direct influence on our global operations and product success

  • Hybrid Work Setup: Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid role with a work-from-home budget and top-tier tools.

  • Career Growth: Access education reimbursement, career guidance, and opportunities to upskill.

  • Competitive Perks: Annual bonus, 25 vacation days (excluding national holidays), travel allowance, and a solid pension plan.

  • Stay Active: Free access to our in-house gym in Rotterdam.

  • Free Games: Enjoy lifetime access to Ubisoft’s game library
