ING is looking for a Tribe Lead Modelling within COO Risk. This role is based in the Netherlands and plays a key role in shaping the future of Credit Risk and Financial Risk modelling across the bank.
Job description
As Tribe Lead Modelling within COO Risk, you are responsible for optimizing and supporting the end-to-end implementation of models within the modelling landscape, covering both Credit Risk (CR) and Financial Risk (FR). With a strong platform foundation already in place and a considerable amount of model implementation experience, the Modelling Tribe will aim for optimization of the Model Life Cycle execution, expanding the product offering, and driving a more data- and risk driven way of working.
In this role, you serve as the strategic linking pin between Risk Management, Modelling, Analytics, Data and Implementation - ensuring faster time-to-market of model updates while safeguarding regulatory compliance and model quality. It requires strong leadership, solid knowledge of the Model Life Cycle, and the ability to challenge and steer strategic modelling decisions ensuring models are implementable and aligned with the strategic COO vision.

Roles and responsibilities
As a Tribe Lead, we expect you to:
- Define and execute a strategy aligned with ING’s overall objectives, translating it into tangible short‑ and medium‑term deliverables.
- Establish effective operational structures, set clear performance standards, and ensure consistent execution across domains.
- Build on the existing modelling platform foundation by streamlining processes, expanding the product offering, and promoting a more data- and risk driven way of working.
- Strengthen the link with the Analytics domain, including SAS VISTA capabilities and the use of AI within Credit Risk and Financial Risk Modelling including the underlying processes.
- Accelerate the time-to-market of model updates to ensure models remain aligned with regulatory and business developments.
- Leverage on the ALM platform (QRM) by integrating and optimizing the key Financial Risk models related to IRRBB, EVE, NII, CSRBB etc.
- Offering and implementing Model Validation (MV) and Model Development (MD) uniform and standardized solutions on the Modelling tribe owned IT Solutions like Modelling Platform, Mapps, iModel while being a key driver for the models implemented on QRM (ALM models).
- Collaborate with Group and local CROs and COOs to further simplify and streamline the end‑to‑end model implementation process across the modelling landscape.
- Bridge the gap between data, modelling and implementation, ensuring solutions are scalable, executable and sustainable.
- Manage and engage senior stakeholders - including regulators (e.g. ECB), auditors and internal senior management - acting as a trusted sparring partner across all organisational layers.
- Maintain a strong external network, monitor market developments and integrate relevant best practices.

Required skills and experiences
- 10+ years of experience in Banking, including Information Technology, Risk and/or modelling related processes and systems.
- Proven experience with Credit Risk and/or Financial Risk Modelling, including understanding of the Model Life Cycle process.
- Strong understanding of data, analytics and implementation in a complex banking environment.
- Extensive experience within CRO and/or COO domains, gained through a variety of roles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and steer large‑scale transformation and change initiatives within Risk.
- Extensive experience with senior stakeholder management, including regulators (e.g. ECB), auditors and internal senior management (business lines and group functions).
- Ability to navigate complex organizational landscapes and act as a trusted senior sparring partner.
- Strategic mindset combined with strong hands‑on execution capability.
- Proven experience in developing high‑performing teams and strong people leadership (including coaching and talent development).
- Excellent interpersonal, problem‑solving, and verbal and written communication skills.
