VP, Operations

The firm combines deep industry expertise with a hands-on approach to value creation, partnering closely with management teams to drive sustainable growth.

The Role 

The Vice President of Operations plays a crucial role in driving MiddleGround’s value creation at portfolio companies, evaluating the effectiveness of the operations group, and continuously improving portfolio company performance. The role is located in Amsterdam and reports directly to the Managing Director of Operations. 

Strategic Planning & Execution: 

• Develop and execute comprehensive value creation plans
• Identify and implement cost reduction, efficiency and net working capital improvement strategies
• Conduct thorough assessments of organizational, financial and operational performance
• Oversee the development of the annual budget and Hoshin creation process

Board & C-Suite Collaboration:

• Collaborate with portfolio company boards and executive teams to drive execution of value creation initiatives
• Provide expert guidance and support to C-suite executives during equity value creation during our ownership
• Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure successful execution of initiatives

Performance Improvement:

• Analyze and optimize key business processes to drive operational excellence
• Implement best practices and industry benchmarks to improve business outcomes
• Monitors recovery plans for unachieved or behind target business activities; directs or redirects activities as needed
• Monitor and track performance metrics to measure the impact of value creation efforts

Change Management:

• Lead change-management efforts to ensure smooth transitions during value creation activities
• Develop communication plans to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged
• Address resistance to change and foster a culture of continuous improvement

Operational Due Diligence:

• Lead operational due diligence and related third parties on potential acquisition targets
• Create and confirm Pre and Post LOI Equity Value Creation Plan (EVCP) and align with deal team

• 10-15+ years’ experience with a mix of:
• Restructuring, and/or experience in driving significant value creation initiatives
• Consulting at a top tier consulting firm or a leading Private Equity portfolio team
• Hands on (interim) Operational leadership roles in automotive, industrial and/or B2B distribution companies
• Ability to translate data and experience into actionable initiatives and to drive execution by the companies
• Ability to navigate complex and dynamic business environments
• Strong financial acumen and expertise in financial restructuring, performance improvement, and value creation 
• Proven experience building trusted partnerships with boards and C-suite executives to align on strategy and execution
• In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence practices
