Job Description - Website and information support for Scientist Coordination

Telespazio Belgium can count on almost 40 years of experience in the field of Space Operations Service & Engineering activities.

We provide a significant contribution to the most major Space programs of the European Space Agency. Our core business is to work on the ground to build bridges into space, contributing to the success of ambitious missions.

The European Space Agency is our biggest client and we provide highly qualified employees to many sites of ESA but mainly for ESTEC in the Netherlands, and we provide a permanent contract with great benefits, a good salary, a relocation package along with genuine support to our employees.

On behalf of the European Space Agency, we will be soon looking for a highly skilled Website and information support for Scientist Coordination to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.

What is expected from you:

The role will be for a scientist/ engineer with a sound understanding of the missions supported by the Science Directorate who can work with the science team to ensure good quality information on the ESA Science Programme, and the missions which comprise it, is available to the community. The work will encompass the organisation of Conferences and information events, and the preparation and publication of web pages.

The candidate will be responsible for working with both the Project Scientists & Science Coordinators and the Cosmos portal team & Cosmos portlet developers to create appropriate web content. They will apply common standards across missions and building a strong visual identity so as to showcase ESA Science activities. They will be the interface between the Project Scientists / Science Coordinators, and the Cosmos web developers and he/she will deliver the user feedback, assist in the transfer of information to the new system, and help defining implementation priorities.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the Project Scientists and Science Coordinators to gather content information.
  • Work with the Cosmos team on design concepts and implementation.
  • Collaborate with other team members and end-users including ESA scientists and TPZ engineers, to gather and assess user requirements
  • Support the organisation of Conferences and Information events
  • Support the implementation of high-quality web pages
  • Ensure conformity with ESA’s design standards
  • Maintain consistancy across the various mission-specific websites within the portal

What you offer:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in in astrophysics, astronomy or planetary Science with experience in the field.
  • Significant experience of web site content design.
    • Good knowledge of the ESA science missions, their scope and science objectives.
    • Prior experience of working with the Science community.
    • Proven ability to gather, assess, share and implement user feedback from multiple sources.
    • Experience of website content strategy, including creating, editing and publishing content such as articles, photos, video content etc.
    • Knowledge of Web site design, with creative skills to make the website visually appealing.
    • Able to understand and comply with the ESA guidelines.
    • Experience of Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP) would be useful.
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
      • Pro-active attitude to problem solving and customer focus
      • Good Collaboration skills
      • Excellent time management: Able to meet deadlines and prioritise work
      • Comfortable in an international working environment
      • Fluent in written and spoken English
      • Should be willing to travel to ESA establishments and/or other European locations, if needed

      You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
