At BASF | Nunhems, we create innovative seed varieties and smart solutions for tomorrow’s needs. With over 100 years of breeding experience, we combine genetics, data, and global partnerships to deliver vegetables people love — today and for generations to come. To further develop and grow this ambition we are looking for a Internship Scheduling Process Optimization - BASF | Nunhems - Haelen/Nunhem.

Your Job

How can smarter planning help ensure that products are available to customers at the right time? During this internship, you will explore how our scheduling processes can become faster, more reliable, and more future-ready. Your research will lead to practical recommendations that can make a visible difference to our daily operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Map the current scheduling process, including the systems, data, and working methods involved.

  • Speak with planners and other colleagues to understand their needs and identify the main challenges in daily planning.

  • Analyze planning data and activities to uncover bottlenecks, time-consuming tasks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Explore how processes could be simplified, standardized, automated, or digitalized.

  • Investigate how data and potentially AI can support faster and better-informed planning decisions.

  • Research relevant best practices, tools, and methods within scheduling and supply chain management.

  • Assess the potential benefits of your recommendations in terms of time, capacity, quality, and reliability.

  • Develop a practical improvement and implementation proposal and present your findings to key stakeholders and management.

At the end of your internship, you will deliver a well-founded proposal that helps the Scheduling team work more efficiently and respond better to changing priorities.

Your Team

You will join our Scheduling team, which plays a central role in coordinating production, materials, and available capacity. The team helps balance customer demand with what is operationally possible, contributing directly to the timely availability of our products.

Scheduling works closely with colleagues in Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Service. This gives you the opportunity to learn from different areas of the business and understand how planning decisions affect the wider organization.

Throughout your internship, you will receive guidance from experienced Scheduling and Supply Chain professionals. At the same time, you will have the freedom to take ownership of your research, challenge existing ways of working, and bring forward your own ideas.

Your Profile

What knowledge and experience make you successful in this role?

  • You are currently studying at a university of applied sciences or research university, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.

  • You are looking for a graduation internship or a practical internship assignment.

  • You have an interest in planning, process improvement, data analysis, and digitalization.

  • You are comfortable analyzing information and translating your findings into practical recommendations.

  • You are able to conduct interviews and communicate your conclusions clearly to different stakeholders.

  • You can work independently while actively involving others when their knowledge or input is needed.

  • You are curious about how new tools, technologies, and AI could improve planning processes.

How do you create impact beyond expertise?

  • Own it: You take responsibility for your research and follow through on agreements. You organize your work independently and ask for input when it helps you move forward.

  • Drive it: You proactively look for improvement opportunities and are not afraid to question existing ways of working. You turn observations and data into concrete, realistic proposals.

  • Excel in it: You approach complex questions with curiosity and attention to detail. You aim for recommendations that are not only well supported, but also practical to implement.

  • You build strong working relationships by listening carefully and showing genuine interest in different perspectives.

  • You communicate in a clear and accessible way, both during interviews and when presenting your findings.

  • You collaborate across teams and connect insights from Scheduling, Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.

  • You remain flexible when priorities change and use new information to strengthen your research.

What We Offer

  • A meaningful internship assignment with visible impact on our scheduling processes.

  • Professional guidance from experienced colleagues in Scheduling and Supply Chain.

  • The opportunity to gain experience across different parts of an international organization.

  • Space to explore innovative solutions, including digitalization, automation, and AI.

  • A practical assignment that allows you to combine research, data analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and implementation.

  • The opportunity to develop your professional network and contribute ideas that can improve the way we work.
