Job Description - SkyTeam Internship - Sustainability Intern (Sep/Oct 2025)

Purpose of the job

At SkyTeam, innovation takes flight like never before. Since we started back in June 2000, SkyTeam and our world-class member airlines have built a leading alliance connecting customers across a vast global network of more than 945 destinations and 750 lounges in 160+ countries. We’ve achieved many ‘firsts’ together – SkyPriority, SkyTeam Rebooking, and The Aviation Challenge, to name just a few.

As the world around us changes at lightning speed, our pursuit to create cutting-edge solutions for members and customers is relentless. We want to be recognized as the most customer-centric alliance, anticipating and fulfilling evolving expectations.

We work daily to be a leader in truly advancing travel and mastering cocreation to empower SkyTeam members and partners to deliver ever more seamless, innovative, and responsible experiences to customers worldwide.

SkyTeam recognizes the impacts that aviation has on our planet and is committed to working with our members to accelerate the adoption of sustainability initiatives in our industry, and to facilitate the transition to a more sustainable future. As part of this commitment, SkyTeam is thrilled to present a unique internship opportunity within our Marketing and Sustainability Department that promises to be as enlightening as it is challenging.

About the Internship Opportunity
As part of its current Sustainability Strategy, SkyTeam is developing and delivering a number of high priority sustainability initiatives, together with its member airlines. This includes the launch of our Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Hub in 2024. The SAF Hub is a virtual platform aimed at accelerating the adoption of SAF across the alliance, through knowledge sharing, best practices and collaboration. This is directly linked to SkyTeam’s Sustainability Standards, which include a target of 5% SAF adoption by individual SkyTeam members by 2030.

Given the collaborative nature of the SkyTeam alliance and the different circumstances of SAF adoption among member airlines, the SAF Hub will play a key  role in advancing the following topics:
  • Developing and implementing a long term SkyTeam SAF Vision and Action Plan
  • Regulatory awareness and updates
  • Key market players and suppliers – global supply and availability
  • Technology, certification and feedstock updates
  • Procurement and logistics
  • Potential joint procurement opportunities
  • Use of SAF ‘book and claim’ systems (as used in the renewable energy sector)
  • SAF emissions accounting (best practices)
  • Sale of SAF emissions reductions certificates to customers
  • Advocacy
The SAF Hub currently includes representatives from 14 member airlines and meets approximately every two months. It is currently in the process of implementing SkyTeam’s SAF Vision and SAF Action Plan, recently endorsement by our member airlines

Your Work Activities
  • Coordination: Assist the Sustainability Director and Sustainability  Coordinator in arranging meetings, events, site visits and information sharing sessions related to the SAF Hub, including with airlines, technology providers, fuel companies, events organizers and industry groups.
  • Communications: Working together with the Sustainability and Communications Teams, prepare a range of communications materials related to the SAF Hub, including an e-newsletter, correspondence, website content,
  • conference talking points and other material as required.
  • Analysis and reporting: Working together with the Sustainability Team and SAF Hub member airlines, prepare and disseminate a monthly SkyTeam SAF Pulse e-newsletter, using information from a variety of sources, such as market intelligence reporting services (e.g.. Quantum Biofuels Daily), and focusing on member’s hubs and key markets.
  • Information Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining all materials related to the SAF Hub to ensure it is easily accessible and user-friendly for all stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Assist the Sustainability Team in refining and disseminating knowledge prepared for the SAF Hub by transforming complex information into clear, understandable, and inspiring content that others can learn from.
