Become an integral part of one of Picnic’s 20 Java backend development teams, each playing a crucial role across the company. Whether it’s optimizing truck routes between warehouses and city hubs with real-time planning tools like Timefold, or building smarter course management features for our internal Tech Academy—there’s no shortage of impactful projects to tackle.  At Picnic your skills will be taken to the next level with the latest tech and our diverse projects will keep you challenged and motivated.

This is a 2-month full-time position. Please note that this is not a thesis internship. 

Tricks of the trade

• Drive: With a strong motivation to learn and improve, you’ll take ownership of projects while working closely with your colleagues to grow and develop your skills.


• Contribution: From modeling complex transport constraints in Timefold, to benchmarking solver performance and enhancing planning efficiency with scalable, extensible solutions: you’ll be learning how to manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, while finding yourself fully immersed in an engaging startup culture.


• Curiosity: You’re driven to explore and optimize systems, always eager to understand how each line of code contributes to the bigger picture and overall business goals.


• Our Tech: Java 21 with Spring Boot 3, PostgreSQL/MongoDB, Git, Docker, LLMs

We’re looking for

• You are in the process of acquiring a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related technical field 


• A collaborative mindset, ready to engage with the team and seek out new opportunities for improvement.


• Motivated to challenge the status quo and drive innovative solutions to enhance efficiency.


• Your English skills are on point (no Dutch required)


• You are available between 7th of July and 1st of September 2025.
