About the job: 

As a Lead Product Designer Creative Automation, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Creative Automation design team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality design solutions that meet the needs and objectives of our organisation. You operate in the Product Owner -Engineer - Product Designer triangle and will collaborate closely with cross-functional and cross unit teams to drive innovation, maintain brand consistency, and elevate the overall user experience. This role requires exceptional design skills, solid leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of product design principles and trends. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to the design team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Lead by example, inspiring team members to deliver their best work and encouraging professional growth and development. 
  • Design Strategy: Develop and execute design strategies that are tightly aligned with product development goals and user needs, translate them into effective design solutions, adhering to the highest design standards, while aligning on feasibility with development. Ensure designs are consistent with brand guidelines and reflect the organization’s aesthetic and values. 
  • User-Centric Design: Drive user-centered design practices throughout the product development lifecycle. Own the end-to-end user journey. Conduct user research, analyze feedback, and iterate on designs to optimize user experiences and meet usability standards. Organize and perform usability testing with in-house experts and client users. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate design seamlessly into the product development process. Foster strong communication and alignment across teams to ensure consistency and cohesion in design implementation.

Requirements

  • Ideally bachelor's degree in graphic design (or the experience to back it up), Visual Communication, and/or related field.
  • Proven experience (4 years) leading design teams effectively in a product-focused environment. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in product design, user interface design, and user experience principles. 
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or Figma. 
  • In-depth knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques. 
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles and methodologies. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Deep understanding of agile development methodologies and iterative design processes.
