Job Description - Lands & Claims Field Advisor

The Lands & Claims Field
Advisor will be responsible for managing land acquisition, compensation claims,
and resolving land-related disputes associated with the client's operations. This
role requires a strong understanding of land policies, regulatory compliance,
and stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth land transactions and mitigate
risks. The successful candidate will liaise with community representatives,
government agencies, and legal teams to oversee land-related agreements and
claims.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee land acquisition processes in
    compliance with the client's operational and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage compensation claims related to land
    use and acquisition, ensuring fairness and transparency.

  • Collaborate with government agencies and
    local authorities to secure land rights and permits.

  • Resolve land disputes through
    negotiations, legal proceedings, or alternative dispute resolution
    mechanisms.

  • Maintain accurate records of land
    transactions, compensation agreements, and legal claims.

  • Assess risks related to land acquisition
    and advise on mitigation strategies.

  • Conduct field visits to assess land
    conditions and engage with local communities.

  • Ensure alignment of land-related policies
    with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and other regulatory frameworks.

  • Train internal teams on land management
    best practices and legal compliance.

 



Requirements

Qualifications &
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Management, Law,
    Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
    is an added advantage.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land
    acquisition, claims management, or related roles, with at least 3 years in
    the oil & gas sector.

  • Proven track record in stakeholder
    engagement and conflict resolution regarding land matters.

  • Strong knowledge of land policies and
    regulatory frameworks in Nigeria.


Certifications:

  • Relevant professional certifications in
    land management, dispute resolution, or legal compliance are a plus.

  • Membership in relevant industry
    associations is advantageous.
