Job Description - Sales/Business Development Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales/Business Development Manager to join our growing Vendor Management firm. This role will leverage a Sales Category Management approach to identify, develop, and manage relationships with key vendors in the energy and marine sectors. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving profitable growth and building strategic partnerships within these industries. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the energy and marine vendor categories, leveraging category management principles.
  • Conduct market research to identify and qualify potential vendors with best-in-class solutions for our clients in the energy and marine sectors.
  • Lead the vendor selection process, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at vendor companies.
  • Develop and implement vendor performance management programs to ensure alignment with client needs.
  • Manage and grow a profitable portfolio of vendor relationships.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with vendors to identify opportunities for collaboration and optimization.
  • Generate and qualify leads through targeted prospecting activities.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations to potential vendors.
  • Track and report on sales performance metrics, including revenue, profitability, and market share.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales or business development, with a proven track record of success in a B2B environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with sales category management principles and methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of the energy and marine sectors, including current market trends and challenges.
  • Strong understanding of vendor management best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficient in CRM software and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with vendor management software.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements in the energy and marine sectors.
