Accountant

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a highly competent and experienced Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and audit coordination. The ideal candidate must be a Chartered Accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on experience using Zoho Books, and a proven track record in a senior accounting or managerial finance role.

This role is suited for a detail-oriented finance professional who can maintain strong financial controls, provide timely management reports, support strategic decision-making, and ensure compliance with relevant financial and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Accountant will be responsible for:

• Maintaining accurate day-to-day accounting records and proper document retention.
• Managing monthly bank reconciliations.
• Overseeing monthly bookkeeping activities.
• Performing monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-ledgers.
• Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts and reports.
• Preparing and maintaining general ledgers and sub-ledgers.
• Ensuring all revenue streams are accurately identified, captured, and recorded.
• Ensuring accurate and timely recognition of revenue in line with company policies and accounting standards.
• Preparing draft financial statements in line with IFRS.
• Conducting annual budget reviews against actual financial performance and providing insights for decision-making.
• Continuously evaluating and monitoring financial data to support improved financial operations and strategy.
• Reviewing monthly valuation reports for income recognition.
• Preparing monthly updates on income, cash flow, and debtors.
• Advising on treasury-related matters.
• Working with the finance team and procurement team to manage financial and accounting records.
• Providing financial information requested by auditors for each financial reporting period.
• Liaising with external auditors.
• Responding to auditor queries and supporting audit completion.
• Providing relevant schedules to auditors.
• Attending to internal and external audit queries.

Requirements

Candidates must have:

• A B.Sc. in Accounting or a related finance discipline.
• Professional accounting certification, preferably ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Strong proficiency in Zoho Books.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting or finance management role.
• Prior experience in a medium-to-large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, IFRS, reconciliations, budgeting, treasury, and audit processes.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage teams, work with senior stakeholders, and support business decision-making.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional discipline.

The ideal candidate is commercially aware, technically strong, and able to combine hands-on accounting execution with managerial oversight. They should be comfortable working in a structured environment, meeting deadlines, improving processes, and providing financial insights to leadership.
