Job Description - Accounting Associate

Role Summary:

The Accounting associate will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining proper accounting controls, and supporting effective financial decision-making. The role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, preparing financial statements, monitoring transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing timely financial insights to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense records.
Record, classify, and reconcile financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Manage invoicing, payment processing, receivables tracking, and vendor account reconciliations.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to guide management decisions.
Monitor company expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets and financial policies.
Assist with tax preparation, statutory filings, and compliance with relevant Nigerian financial regulations.
Maintain proper documentation for audits and support internal and external audit processes.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and reduce financial risks.
Monitor cash flow and provide reports on financial performance and trends.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information.
Support payroll processing and ensure accurate financial documentation.
Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and operational efficiency.
Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by management.
