JOB TITLE: AUDIT/TAX MANAGER

About the Role
Our client, a leading firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Practitioners, is looking to recruit an experienced Audit/Tax Manager to lead and manage its audit and tax practice. The successful candidate will oversee audit planning and execution, tax compliance and advisory services, financial reporting, client relationship management, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements across various industries
Perform quality assurance reviews of audit working papers for ISA and regulatory compliance
Manage corporate tax, VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory tax compliance and advisory services
Represent clients during tax audits, investigations, and regulatory engagements
Evaluate clients' internal controls, governance, and risk management frameworks
Review financial statements for IFRS compliance and provide technical accounting advice
Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts
Lead, supervise, and mentor audit and tax teams (Supervisors, Seniors, Associates, Trainees)
Ensure compliance with ISA, IFRS, tax legislation, CAMA, and other regulatory requirements
Support the firm's strategic objectives, KPIs, and practice growth initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree (Second Class Upper) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; a Master's degree/MBA is an added advantage
Chartered Accountant status (ICAN or ACCA); CITN membership is highly desirable
Minimum of 5â8 years' progressive experience in external audit, tax, and assurance within a professional services firm
At least 3 years in a managerial role leading audit and tax engagements
Proven experience managing statutory audits for multinationals, listed companies, financial institutions, or large private organizations
Experience representing clients before NRS, State Internal Revenue Services, FRCN, and other regulatory bodies
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA, Nigerian tax legislation (NTA 2025, NTAA 2025, JRB Act 2025, NRS Act 2025), CAMA, and Transfer Pricing Regulations
Proficiency in audit/accounting software (CaseWare, TeamMate, IDEA, ACL Analytics, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics)
Advanced MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
High integrity, professionalism, and commercial awareness
Please Note: Candidates who currently hold an active ICAN and/or CITN Practice Licence will not be considered for this role due to Private Practice.
