Business Development Officer

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving business growth through client acquisition, relationship management, deposit mobilisation, investment sales, and revenue generation. The role requires a commercially driven professional with strong knowledge of the banking or asset management environment and the ability to build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Acquisition

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned market.
  
• Acquire new clients and grow the organisation’s customer base.
  
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  
• Generate leads through networking, referrals, market research, and direct business development activities.
  
• Convert qualified prospects into active clients and revenue-generating relationships.
  

Deposit Mobilisation & Investment Sales

• Drive deposit mobilisation and investment inflows in line with assigned targets.
  
• Promote and sell relevant investment and financial products to individuals, SMEs, corporates, and other target clients.
  
• Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and ensure timely conversion of opportunities.
  
• Cross-sell appropriate products and services to existing clients.
  

Relationship Management

• Serve as a key point of contact for assigned clients.
  
• Understand clients’ financial and investment needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  
• Maintain regular client engagement to support retention and increase wallet share.
  
• Resolve client concerns and coordinate with relevant internal teams where necessary.
  

Market Development

• Conduct market intelligence and identify emerging business opportunities.
  
• Develop relationships with key individuals, organisations, professional networks, and business communities.
  
• Monitor competitor activities and provide relevant market insights to management.
  
• Participate in business development events, client meetings, presentations, and networking activities.
  

Reporting & Performance Management

• Maintain accurate records of prospects, clients, activities, and business opportunities.
  
• Prepare regular reports on sales activities, pipeline, client acquisition, deposit mobilisation, and investment performance.
  
• Track performance against assigned business development targets.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable internal policies, regulatory requirements, and approved sales processes.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

• 3–7 years of relevant experience in Banking or Asset Management.
  
• 
  
• Experience in Business Development, Relationship Management, Deposit Mobilization, Investment Sales, or Client Acquisition is strongly preferred.
  
• 
  
• Professional qualifications in banking, finance, investment management, or related fields will be an added advantage.
