Organization
iMMAP Inc. is an international nongovernmental organisation that provides information management services to humanitarian and development organizations. Through information management, we help our partners target assistance to the world’s most vulnerable populations. Our core philosophy is that better data leads to better decisions and that better decisions lead to better outcomes. iMMAP Inc.’s critical support to information value chains helps to solve operational and strategic challenges of our partners in both emergency and development contexts by enabling evidence-based decision-making for better outcomes.
Background
Country specific
The humanitarian crisis in Northeast Nigeria was in the first instance caused and amplified by the non-international armed conflict now in its 15th year. There are few if any, signs that the conflict affecting millions of people will come to an end in the short term. Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure raise profound protection concerns and continue to impede the access of vulnerable people to assistance. The conflict has a massive negative impact on the people and infrastructure needed to deliver vital and basic services.
More than two million internally displaced people have been displaced because of widespread insecurity.
With support from the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, iMMAP Inc. continues to support the humanitarian sectors responding to the crisis in northeast Nigeria, by seconding and deploying standby personnel to the Sector Lead Agencies since November 2016. The support includes building the information management capacity of the partners through training. However, starting from January 2020, the capacity-building activities delivered by iMMAP Inc. were scaled up to include the internship program under which at least 16 interns are turned out every project cycle and has so far produced 124 graduated interns.
