Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Cardiac Surgeon to establish and provide high-quality surgical cardiac services for patients requiring complex cardiovascular surgical interventions. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care from preoperative assessment through postoperative management and will work closely with the cardiac anaesthesia, perfusion, ICU, cardiology, and perioperative teams to develop a high-performing cardiac surgery service.
Key Responsibilities
⢠Evaluate and diagnose patients requiring cardiac surgical intervention.
⢠Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on clinical assessment, investigations, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
⢠Perform cardiac surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, and other appropriate cardiac procedures.
⢠Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative surgical management.
⢠Participate actively in multidisciplinary cardiac case discussions and treatment planning.
⢠Work closely with cardiac anaesthetists, perfusionists, cardiologists, ICU teams, and perioperative nurses.
⢠Manage postoperative complications and provide appropriate surgical interventions.
⢠Supervise and mentor junior surgeons and other surgical team members.
⢠Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, research, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.
