JOB SUMMARY


The Community Relations Lead supports the Community Relations Manager in ensuring disruption-free field operations through effective community engagement and stakeholder management. This role provides operational, administrative, and strategic assistance in implementing community relations initiatives, monitoring activities, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES




  • Operational Support

  • Assist in managing day-to-day community relations activities to ensure smooth field operations within OML 30.

  • Support monitoring of well intervention and rig operations to minimise non-productive time (NPT).

  • Provide timely reports and updates to the Community Relations Manager on field activities and community-related issues.


 



  • Community Engagement

  • Facilitate communication and relationship-building with cluster communities, ensuring alignment with the provisions of the GMoU and Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) under the PIA.





    • Support the transition from the GMoU model to the HCDT model, ensuring compliance with statutory timelines.

    • Assist in managing relationships with State and Local Governments, including relevant MDAs.





  • Strategic & Administrative Support





    • Contribute to the preparation and review of divisional work plans, budgets, and performance measurement parameters.

    • Provide input into community development strategic planning (short-, medium-, and long-term).

    • Assist in identifying and mitigating community-related risks that could impact operations.





  • Staff & Process Support





    • Support CRD employees in their day-to-day activities, ensuring adherence to company policies and ethical standards.

    • Provide mentoring and career development guidance under the supervision of the Community Relations Manager.

    • Ensure CRD processes and activities are documented and compliant with company codes of ethics.





  • Governance & Reporting

  • Assist in preparing budgets and reports for governance meetings.

  • Track progress of CRD initiatives and provide recommendations for adjustments where necessary.

  • Support top management in target setting and delivery of community relations objectives.



QUALIFICATION


Key skills and qualifications for this role:

  • Crisis/conflict management skills.


Qualification:



  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in communication, administration, social sciences, or the humanities from a recognised university (or equivalent higher institution).

  • A post-graduate degree or certification is an added advantage.

  • Six (6) years of experience in community relations, stakeholder management, or similar roles in the oil and gas industry.


A good understanding of the Niger Delta Communities.
