About the Position
The Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the protection of civilians caught in conflict. CIVIC works directly with governments, armed forces, and affected communities to develop and implement practical solutions that reduce civilian harm and strengthen accountability in conflict-affected areas. Since its establishment in Nigeria in 2018, CIVIC has led programming focused on enhancing civil-military relations, promoting community-based protection mechanisms, and advocating for civilian harm mitigation in the northeast and other fragile regions. Through direct engagement with military actors, security agencies, local authorities, and civilians, CIVIC Nigeria has contributed to policy shifts, capacity-building efforts, and the creation of inclusive dialogue platforms to bridge trust and improve protection outcomes.
CIVIC’s Nigeria program operates in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, with ongoing initiatives addressing civilian protection in asymmetric warfare, community protection committee (CPC) empowerment, and the use of technology and innovation, such as the TEELA, to monitor and respond to civilian harm.
