At ID Africa, we produce content for young people seeking knowledge, information and entertainment. As a writer at IDA, you will be required to produce articles, video scripts (news reports) and copy for mostly web and social, and sometimes for print. You will be appraised based on the areas listed below:
How much high-quality work you produce independently and collaboratively i.e. quantitative measure
How impactful your work is in terms of audience satisfaction, meeting set objectives and overall significance i.e. qualitative measure
How reliable you are for ID Africa i.e. your consistency
How often you show up for your teammates i.e. your interpersonal relationship and leadership
How creative you are with tasks i.e. innovation and problem solving

What do we need from you?
1. News Gathering and Verification:
Collect, verify, and thoroughly analyze newsworthy information.
Contact, interview, and research sources to gather accurate information.
2. Story Development:
Assemble findings into coherent and compelling stories.
Write and deliver news stories with the reader’s perspective in mind.
3. Content Creation:
Publish or broadcast news stories across various platforms.
Maintain notes and audio recordings for reference and accuracy.
4. Assignments and Investigations:
Receive assignments or investigate news leads and tips.
Conduct in-depth research and investigations on assigned subjects.
5. Ethics and Standards:
Abide by journalism’s ethics and codes to ensure integrity and credibility.
Ensure all content is factually accurate, grammatically correct, and well-formatted.
6. Collaboration:
Cooperate with reporters, chief editors, producers, and other media professionals.
Provide editorial assistance and support to content creators and social community teams.
7. Current Events Monitoring:
Stay up-to-date with the latest current events in the assigned “beat” by studying papers, attending events, and following relevant news sources.
8. Campaign and Content Management:
Design, create, and manage content promotion, distribution, and social media marketing campaigns.
Track and analyze the performance of content to optimize reach and engagement.
