This entry-level role supports the development of electronic hardware systems from concept through to flight-ready deployment, playing a key part in converting optical and RF communication ideas into functional hardware. The position involves working under mentorship to establish technical standards and gain essential experience in satellite subsystems, communication payloads, and space mission testing protocols.
Responsibilities
Assist in defining electronics architecture for satellite subsystems and payloads based on mission needs.
Support the creation of requirements documents and interface control specifications.
Participate in component trade studies to evaluate performance, cost, and schedule factors.
Help prepare content for design reviews and track the resolution of review actions.
Contribute to the design of communication payload electronics such as laser drivers and RF transceivers.
Collaborate with optical and mechanical engineers to resolve thermal and alignment issues.
Support the review of schematics and PCB layouts for mixed-signal and high-speed digital circuits.
Aid in component selection and parts list management to mitigate obsolescence risks.
Assist in drafting test plans for functional, environmental, and EMC testing.
Support root-cause analysis of failures and document verification evidence for stakeholders.
Help establish electronics design standards and review checklists under senior guidance.
Participate in estimating effort and cost for electronics work and technical proposals.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Fundamental knowledge of analog, digital, and RF circuit design principles.
Understanding of satellite subsystems, communication payloads, or space-grade hardware.
Familiarity with schematic capture tools and PCB layout software.
Basic knowledge of testing methodologies including environmental and EMC testing.
Strong analytical skills for trade studies and problem-solving.
Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical documentation.
Ability to work within a team and learn from senior engineer mentorship.
Interest in space technology, optical communication, and hardware development.
