Job Description - Enterprise Information Technology Manager

Enterprise Information Technology Manager


Department: Information Technology
Industry: Oil & Gas – Exploration & Production
Location: Lagos Nigeria with regular travel to, and engagement with, OML 30 operational locations in Delta State
Reports To: General Manager, Supply Chain & Business Services



Job Purpose


To lead and manage the enterprise-wide IT strategy, infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives that support the OML 30 asset. The role ensures alignment of IT systems with business goals, enhances operational efficiency, and maintains cybersecurity and data integrity across the organization.



Key Technical Competencies



  • Enterprise Architecture & Systems Integration

    • Design and implement scalable IT infrastructure across exploration, production, and corporate environments

    • Integrate ERP, CMMS, e-procurement tool, and other operational systems



  • Cybersecurity & Data Governance

    • Develop and enforce cybersecurity protocols and disaster recovery plans

    • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards



  • Cloud & Infrastructure Management

    • Oversee hybrid cloud environments and on-premises systems

    • Manage network architecture, VPNs, and satellite communications for remote sites



  • Operational Technology (OT) & Industrial Systems

    • Support and maintain IT/OT convergence for drilling rigs, flow stations, LACT units, and other support platforms

    • Collaborate with engineering & projects and technical teams on automation, telemetry, and control systems



  • Application Development & Support

    • Lead development and support of custom applications for asset tracking, intranet, UA/UC reporting, logistics, etc

    • Manage vendor relationships and software lifecycle

    • Experience in implementing and supporting solutions in an E&P Operator environment using the following technologies:





  • Microsoft OS and Applications (Windows 7, 8, 10, 11 and Office Applications)

  • Microsoft Server (2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2016, 2019, Exchange Online)

  • Active Directory Administration.

  • Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix).

  • Microsoft Cloud Technologies (O365, Azure, Teams, SharePoint)

  • Backup, Disaster Recover and Business Continuity Solutions.

  • Implementing departmental specific applications while dealing with 3rd party software companies

  • Cabling infrastructure (patching, rack installations, etc.)

  • Firewalls and network security (SonicWALL, Cisco)

  • Wireless Access Solutions (Cisco Meraki)



  • IT Service Management

    • Implement ITIL-based (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) service delivery and support frameworks

    • Monitor SLAs (service level agreements), third party supplier performance KPIs, helpdesk performance, and user satisfaction



  • Social License to Operate (SLO) Support

    • Use IT systems to enhance transparency, environmental monitoring, and community reporting

    • Support CSR and ESG initiatives through digital platforms

    • Translate technical concepts into business value, as well as tailor communication of IT strategies for technical and non-technical stakeholders

    • Facilitate transparent dialogue to align IT goals with business and operational needs

    • Set realistic expectations around IT deliverables, timelines, and constraints

    • Navigate competing priorities and negotiate trade-offs effectively



  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Build and mentor a high-performing IT team across multiple locations

    • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning

    • Build trust through consistent follow-through, transparency and responsiveness



  • Change Management

    • Lead organizational change initiatives related to new systems, processes, and technologies

    • Manage resistance and ensure smooth adoption of digital tools



  • Risk Management & Compliance

    • Identify and mitigate IT-related risks in exploration and production activities

    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, local oil & gas laws)

    • Promote shared ownership of digital transformation initiatives



  • Budgeting & Vendor Management

    • Manage the development of IT budgets against work programs and strategic initiatives, and support the Contracts and Procurement (C&P) function in detailed review of technical scopes of IT vendor contracts

    • Optimize costs while maintaining service quality and innovation





Qualifications & Experience



  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field

  • Minimum 15 years of IT experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership role within either the Oil & Gas, FMCG industries or a top tier consulting firm

  • Certifications: PMP, ITIL, CISSP, Azure/AWS, or equivalent

  • Proven experience in deploying and managing enterprise IT systems in agile environments, whilst driving cost optimization strategies

  • Demonstrated personal, interpersonal and team collaboration effectiveness.

  • Deep expertise on real time IT enterprise risks and adaptable solutions

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly

  • Service awareness of all organization’s key IT needs where support is required.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment

  • Strong organisational and customer service skills.

  • Attention to detail and a high degree of integrity.

  • Demonstrated people management and talent development experience
