Position Summary

We are seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Field Engineer to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of networking systems at client sites. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in fieldwork within the ISP or telecom industry and the ability to deliver high-quality technical services with minimal supervision.

This role combines hands-on engineering with strong client-facing responsibilities, requiring both technical expertise and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation & Configuration

• Install and configure ISP services (e.g., routers, modems, cabling) at customer locations.

• Follow technical documentation and procedures to ensure accurate installations.

• Test service quality and connectivity to meet defined standards.

• Guide customers on equipment usage and basic troubleshooting.

2. Troubleshooting & Technical Support

• Diagnose and resolve network-related issues onsite.

• Respond promptly to service tickets and customer escalations.

• Collaborate with the NOC, support teams, and coordinators to resolve complex technical problems.

• Maintain clear documentation of service calls, resolutions, and escalations.

3. Customer Interaction & Service Excellence

• Represent the company professionally at all client interactions.

• Communicate technical issues in a simple and clear manner to clients.

• Recommend service upgrades or network optimizations where needed.

• Support sales and account management teams by relaying customer feedback and upsell opportunities.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with company standards and relevant regulations.

• Conduct periodic quality audits on previously completed installations.

• Keep abreast of new tools, installation techniques, and telecom trends to improve service delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or related technical field.

• Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are an added advantage.

• COREN registration is desirable but not mandatory.

Experience

• 2-4 years experience in field engineering, preferably in ISP or telecom services.

• Hands-on experience with installation, troubleshooting, and customer support in the field.

Technical Skills

• Sound knowledge of networking hardware and protocols (routers, switches, cabling).

• Proficiency in Windows/Linux operating environments.

• Familiarity with diagnostic and signal testing tools.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong customer service orientation.

Other Requirements

• Must have a valid drivers license.

• Physically fit and capable of handling equipment installations.

• Willing to travel within and outside Lagos as needed.
