Role Overview



SEA‑FAJ Consults is recruiting on behalf of our client for a highly detail‑oriented Head, Risk Management to lead the Enterprise‑wide Risk Management (ERM) strategy and framework. The role translates the risk appetite into informed decision‑making, supports business and strategic objectives, and provides oversight of internal control activities.



Key Responsibilities



  • Articulate and continuously refine the Enterprise‑wide Risk Management (ERM) strategy and framework.

  • Update risk‑management products, including credit risk rating models, and enhance existing processes, policies, and procedures.

  • Conduct quarterly stress testing of credit, market, and liquidity positions for Group management and the Board.

  • Prepare and present periodic risk reports to the Group’s stakeholders, including the Board and the Board Risk Committee (BRC).

  • Provide required reports to regulators and external stakeholders such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC); ensure timely regulatory returns and maintain seamless regulator relationships.

  • Develop the Annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) documentation in line with CBN guidelines.

  • Review Group transactions to confirm compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in CBN/NDIC joint risk‑asset assessments, respond to supervisory reports, and implement corrective action plans.

  • Conduct environmental scanning on assets, directors, and other pertinent information; communicate findings to stakeholders.

  • Document, test, and maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.

  • Ensure risk‑management policies are renewed and kept up‑to‑date.

  • Make board‑level presentations on risks, mitigants, and risk‑management initiatives.

  • Supervise the implementation of Risk and Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA) workshops; organise annual sessions and monthly Risk Champion meetings.


Essential Qualifications & Requirements



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Evidence of completion or exemption from NYSC.

  • Professional risk or finance certification (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA) is advantageous.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 7 years in the banking/financial‑services sector and 5 years in senior management.

  • Deep expertise in banking operations, particularly credit operations and/or market risk.

  • Extensive experience interacting with regulators and thorough knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Strong understanding of domestic and international risk‑management and financial standards.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

  • Intellectual curiosity, analytical mindset, and the capacity to influence a culture of risk awareness.

  • Exceptional negotiation, strategic thinking, and stakeholder‑management abilities.


Desired Experience



  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise risk frameworks that align with business strategy.

  • Hands‑on experience with credit risk rating models, stress testing, and ICAAP processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing risk‑management teams.

  • Experience in emerging markets, particularly Nigeria, and familiarity with CBN and NDIC regulatory environments.

  • Background in business continuity planning, disaster recovery testing, and risk‑control self‑assessment workshops.


Salary 

500,000 - 700,000 (Monthly) Negotiable
