Our client is an Infrastructural company that offers construction, traffic solutions and procurement services to both public and private clients. Due to expansion, they are currently in need of a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
LOCATION: ZAMFARA
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing fluids, filters, and belts, as well as diagnosing and repair mechanical issues on heavy construction equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, and trucks.
• Identify problems with machinery through observation and diagnostic tools and develop solutions to ensure equipment is operational and safe.
• Order and manage inventory of replacement parts, ensuring availability for repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts usage for reporting and reference.
• Coordinate with other mechanics and construction personnel to ensure efficient operation of equipment and timely completion of projects.
• Stay up to date on industry advancements and participate in training to enhance skills and knowledge.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or diploma in Heavy Duty Mechanic program preferred.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, as well as using tools and equipment common to heavy equipment maintenance.
• Proficiency in Volvo, Bomack, Caterpilla and other heavy-duty equipment
• Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems. Familiarity with construction machinery models and manufacturers.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to conduct thorough inspections and follow procedures accurately.
• Effective communication with team members, supervisors, and vendors.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
• Proficiency in computer software for documentation and reporting and diagnostic machines to diagnose faults in equipment.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
