Job Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Finance is a key member of the senior leadership team. This role provides strategic financial oversight, ensures full regulatory compliance, and builds a strong internal financial culture grounded in transparency, accountability, and long\-term sustainability.
The Director will lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting, risk management, and ensure that financial systems support effective program delivery and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
â Lead the development and execution of the organization's annual budgeting process, financial strategy, & multi\-year forecasting.
â Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to donors, Board of Directors, regulatory bodies.
â Oversee all accounting processes, audits, payroll, & statutory compliance (e.g. FIRS, CAC, PENCOM).
â Review, develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard organisational assets.
â Train and supervise the finance team, ensuring high performance, integrity, & consistency.
â Collaborate with the strategy and sustainability, and people, culture and operations teams leads & directors to align budgets with implementation realities & deliverables.
â Guide contract and grant compliance, donor reporting, & cost recovery strategies.
â Support fundraising teams by preparing budgets for proposals & tracking fund utilisation.
Qualifications:
â Bachelorâs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ICAN/ACCA certified. MBA is an asset.
â 5â7 years of progressive experience in financial management, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within a nonprofit.
â Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, & donor financial reporting (local and international).
â Strong leadership & coaching ability with a commitment to capacity building.
â Proven integrity, confidentiality, & ability to manage sensitive information.
â Strong written & verbal communication, attention to detail, & analytical skills
