Our client is a financial technology company that gives personal or business loans to its customers. They are now hiring for the role of an experienced Loan Officer (Kano)
The successful candidate will grow their MFB’s loan portfolio by sourcing, appraising, disbursing, and monitoring loans to individuals, SMEs, and groups in a manner that ensures profitability, portfolio quality, and customer satisfaction. The Loan Officer builds strong client relationships, ensures timely recovery, and supports the financial inclusion mission of the bank.
Duties & Responsibilities
● Identify and engage potential borrowers — individuals, micro-enterprises, SMEs, and groups — to grow the
bank’s loan portfolio.
● Conduct thorough credit appraisals, including business and cash flow analysis, site visits, and verification of
guarantors and collateral.
● Prepare accurate and complete credit proposals and present them to the appropriate approving authority.
● Ensure timely disbursement of approved loans while maintaining proper documentation.
● Monitor active loans to ensure timely repayments, maintain portfolio quality, and minimize default rates.
● Conduct regular follow-up and recovery activities for delinquent accounts in line with the bank’s policies.
● Provide financial education to clients on responsible borrowing and business growth.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and foster referrals for new business opportunities.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all loan activities and generate periodic reports as required.
● Ensure compliance with the client's MFB’s credit policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree or HND in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
● Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience as a Loan Officer, Credit Officer, or related role in a microfinance bank,
commercial bank, or financial institution.
● Good understanding of microfinance principles, credit risk assessment, and recovery techniques.
● Strong sales, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
● Effective communication and ability to explain financial concepts clearly to clients.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
● Knowledge of the local business environment in Kano and northern Nigeria is essential
● Strong business development and client acquisition skills.

● High level of integrity, professionalism, and customer focus.
● Ability to work independently and within a team environment
