Role Purpose
The Media & Content Strategy Manager is responsible for building The Money Wit into a credible, scalable media brand that drives audience growth, trust, and commercial outcomes across retail, corporate, and institutional channels.
This role goes beyond posting on social media. It owns content strategy, narrative control, media systems, and distribution, ensuring that The Money Wit’s ideas travel consistently across platforms and convert into subscribers, clients, partners, and influence.
Strategic Outcomes This Role Owns
Position The Money Wit as a go-to authority on money, markets, and decision-making in Africa
Build media assets (content IP, formats, series) that compound over time
Grow and nurture owned audiences (newsletter, YouTube, podcast, community)
Reduce over-reliance on the founder by systematising voice, formats, and thinking
Ensure media feeds revenue lines: School, Club, Consulting, Institutional work
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Strategy & Narrative Control
Develop and own the editorial strategy aligned with the company’s business priorities
Translate complex finance, markets, and macro ideas into clear, compelling content frameworks
Define core content pillars, themes, and recurring series across platforms
Protect brand tone: intelligent, grounded, authoritative — never gimmicky
2. Media Production & Execution
Lead end-to-end content production across:
Social platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X)
Newsletter
YouTube / video-first formats
Long-form thought leadership
Work with internal and external creatives (designers, video editors, writers) to deliver high-quality output
Ensure consistency of message and quality across all channels
3. Audience Growth & Distribution
Design and execute distribution strategies that grow reach, subscribers, and engagement
Understand platform mechanics and optimise content without chasing trends
Build systems for repurposing content across channels efficiently
Track and improve audience journey: awareness â trust â conversion
4. Media as a Business Engine
Align content with commercial goals:
School enrolments
Club membership
Consulting and institutional credibility
Support partnerships, sponsorships, and media collaborations
Identify opportunities to productise media (series, reports, playbooks, IP)
5. Founder & Brand Leverage
Work closely with the Founder to:
Extract insights, thinking, and frameworks
Turn them into scalable content assets
Reduce dependence on ad-hoc founder availability by building repeatable content systems
Help shape a brand that can speak with the founder — not only through her
Success Metrics (KPIs)
Growth in owned audience (newsletter, YouTube, community)
Content consistency and production cadence
Engagement quality (saves, shares, thoughtful comments — not vanity metrics)
Content-led conversions to products and services
Strength of brand positioning and narrative coherence
Required Skills & Experience
Core Competencies
Strong strategic thinking — understands business, not just content
Excellent writing and editorial judgement
Ability to simplify complex ideas without dumbing them down
Deep understanding of social and digital media ecosystems
Experience building or managing content-led brands
Technical & Execution Skills
Content planning and editorial calendars
Basic performance analysis and reporting
Working knowledge of video, design, and publishing workflows
Comfortable working with senior leaders and founders
Ideal Background (Not Mandatory)
Media, journalism, strategy, communications, or content-led startups
Finance, business, economics, or policy content experience is a strong advantage
Experience supporting thought leaders, executives, or expert-led brands
