Job Description:
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for Nigeria, with a key initial focus on successfully launching Wahed's operations in the country.
- Drive growth by increasing market share, expanding our customer base in Nigeria, and identifying new revenue streams relevant to the Nigerian market.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Nigeria, including regulators, potential partners, and industry experts, to facilitate the launch and ongoing operations.
- Oversee the launch of our products and features in Nigeria, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and localisation.
- Analyse Nigerian market trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and tailoring our offerings to the local context.
- Manage a team of professionals as the Nigerian operations develop, providing leadership, guidance, and support to achieve business goals in the country.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Provide regular reports to the c-suite on the progress of the Nigeria launch and the performance of the country's operations, including key milestones, financial metrics, customer acquisition, and product usage.
Job Specification:
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of demonstrable experience in capital markets, banking, and/or investments, with a strong focus on achieving measurable results.
- Demonstrable experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on fintech, investment management, or a related field, ideally with some exposure to or understanding of the Nigerian market.
- Proven and verifiable track record of successfully launching and scaling operations in new markets, with direct experience in Nigeria being a significant advantage.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, execute, and drive multiple launch-related initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including those based in Nigeria.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and driving results, with an understanding of diverse team dynamics.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends relevant to the Nigerian market.
- Understanding of local regulatory requirements and market dynamics in the Nigerian financial services industry is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Shariah-compliant investing and Islamic finance is preferred, with an appreciation for its potential in the Nigerian context.
- Experience working with and leading a diverse team of professionals.
