Position Overview
Union Vega Offshore (UVO) is seeking a highly capable Operations Manager based in Nigeria to ensure the readiness, reliability, and operational excellence of UVO’s offshore fleet. This role is central to supporting vessel captains and crew from the shore side, ensuring seamless day‑to‑day operations, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.
The Operations Manager will also play a supporting role in the chartering and commercial deployment of UVO assets, contributing to business growth and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Readiness & Operational Oversight
Ensure all UVO vessels are fully prepared for operations, including compliance with technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate maintenance schedules, dry‑dockings, inspections, and repairs with technical teams and external service providers.
Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, and operational efficiency, recommending improvements where necessary.
Maintain accurate operational records, logs, and reporting documentation.
Crew & Captain Support
Serve as the primary shore‑side liaison for vessel captains and crew, ensuring they receive timely operational, logistical, and administrative support.
Oversee crew changes, travel arrangements, certifications, and welfare matters in collaboration with crewing partners.
Provide operational guidance and problem‑solving support during routine operations and emergent situations.
Foster a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to UVO’s operational standards.
Regulatory & Compliance Management
Ensure all vessels meet Nigerian and international maritime regulations (NIMASA, IMO, flag state requirements).
Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of offshore industry standards and regulatory changes.
Commercial & Chartering Support
Assist in identifying chartering opportunities and supporting tender submissions.
Coordinate with commercial teams to ensure vessel availability, suitability, and readiness for client requirements.
Support client engagement, including operational briefings, reporting, and performance updates.
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
Build strong working relationships with port authorities, regulators, suppliers, and service providers.
Oversee procurement of operational supplies, spares, and logistics support.
Manage local contracts and ensure cost‑effective operational delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in offshore marine operations, vessel management, or a similar role.
Strong understanding of offshore support vessels (OSVs), marine logistics, and operational readiness.
Demonstrated experience working with captains and crew in a shore‑based support capacity.
Knowledge of Nigerian maritime regulations and offshore industry practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred
Seagoing experience (e.g., Deck Officer, Marine Engineer) is a strong advantage.
Experience supporting chartering or commercial marine activities.
Familiarity with DP vessels, AHTS, PSV, or other offshore fleet types.
