Job Description - Risk Manager

Our client is a group of companies in Nigeria. Due to expansion, they need a Risk Manager.

LOCATION: Lagos

Job Summary: The Risk Manager is responsible for identifying and managing all aspects of risk within the company. This role

involves developing and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats, ensure regulatory

compliance, and safeguard the organization's assets and reputation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implementrisk management policies, procedures, and frameworks.

Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across all business functions and operations.

Coordinate risk assessments to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.

Conduct risk assessments and scenario analysis to anticipate potential threats and opportunities.

Evaluate the effectiveness of insurance coverage and risk transfer mechanisms to minimize financial exposure.

Lead special projects and initiatives related to risk management optimization, process improvement, and innovation.

Drive a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the organization through training and awareness programs.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management processes and controls.

Provide regular reports and updates on key risk exposures and mitigation efforts.

Implement risk monitoring and reporting systems to track key risk indicators and trends.

Collaborate with departments to develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans.

Manage the development of crisis management and business continuity plans to mitigate the impact of unforeseen events.

Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends that may impact risk management practices and strategies.

Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including industry peers, regulators, and risk management associations

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferably business administration, finance or risk management (Masters or MBA is an added advantage)

6 - 8 years’ core experience, of which at least 3 years are in senior management role.

Recognized professional certification will be an added advantage.

Experience in developing and implementing effective risk management strategies.

Proven experience working in a group structure

In-depth knowledge and experience of risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices.

In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements

Familiarity with enterprise risk management software and tools.
