Job Title: School Librarian

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, ensuring an organised, inviting, and productive learning environment.
  


• Develop, maintain, and update the library's collection of physical and digital resources, ensuring they align with the British curriculum (IGCSE, A-Levels) and support the diverse academic needs of students and teachers.
  


• Catalog, classify, and process new library materials accurately using an appropriate library management system.
  


• Assist students and staff in locating resources, conducting research, and effectively using library facilities and online databases.
  


• Promote reading for pleasure and academic research through engaging initiatives, book clubs, displays, and events.
  


• Provide information literacy instruction to students, teaching them essential research skills, citation methods, and digital citizenship.
  


• Collaborate with teachers across all departments to identify resource needs and integrate library services into the curriculum.
  


• Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular stocktakes, and manage the borrowing and returning of resources.
  


• Oversee the effective use of library technology and digital learning platforms.
  


• Manage the library budget and procure new resources efficiently.
  


• Ensure the library space is well-maintained, safe, and conducive to study and quiet work.
  


• Stay updated on best practices in library science and educational technology.
  

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  


• Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as a School Librarian in an international school offering the British Curriculum.
  


• Demonstrated experience working within a Nigerian secondary school environment.
  


• Strong familiarity and practical experience with resources and support required for the British curriculum (e.g., IGCSE, A-Levels).
  


• Proficiency in using library management software systems.
  


• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  


• A passion for books, reading, and fostering a love for learning in young people.
  


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  


• Strong IT literacy and familiarity with digital resources and online databases.
  


• Patient, approachable, and able to interact effectively with students of all ages.
