JOB PURPOSE The Senior Facilities Engineer role sits within the Engineering & Projects Team and provides support for the design and conceptual development engineering for facilities infrastructure projects including the completion of well hook-ups, and pipeline & flowlines construction, and other infrastructure installations. The role collaborates with Technical, Production Engineering, HSE and other Teams to ensure that all projects are aligned with business objectives and comply with governmental, contractual, and environmental requirements. The ideal candidate must have excellent practical knowledge of facilities practices and principles in Process & Facilities engineering, project initiation and maturation, debottlenecking of Oil & Gas facilities etc. | |
| PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES | |
- Lead identified facilities engineering projects from conceptual design to installation & operation.
- Prepare information package for decision making on project stages - project concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, engineering, and construction support.
- Work closely with appropriate Business Units to produce input to development concepts covering wells, flowlines, pipelines, and facilities designs for the various HHOG development opportunities.
- Establish a Basis of Design for the surface facilities and ensure that this is updated to reflect changes in the underlying data in a timely manner.
- Provide technical support to ensure the safest and most cost-effective design and construction methods, while minimizing loss of production revenue through innovative techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Provide day-to-day functional guidance and technical support to Operations and engineering staff on design, installation, and testing to ensure quality work and a timely and cost-effective approach.
- Provide input to the production of CAPEX and OPEX estimates for facilities, delivery lines and wells, based on establishing suitable cost building blocks and agreed costing methodology. Assist with cost projections, approvals for expenditures and budget control.
- Provide needed support in peer technical reviews, mentoring and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in Process Hazards Analysis, Facilities Hazards Identification, HAZIDs, HAZOPs and Pre-Start up Safety Reviews.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Identify hazards, consider best practices, evaluate the use of state-of-the-art equipment and practices, and incorporate sound engineering practices for the design and construction of all new facilities.
- Maintain current and accurate facility documentation.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all facility issues and concerns.
- Support Business Development and Reservoir engineering in the preparation of scoping cost estimates for the budget and planning processes.
- Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with HHOG facilities.
- Subcom/ JV representation in the Engineering & Projects Division
- Other duties reasonably related to the performance of the job
Ensure HSE Goal zero is achieved and engender a culture of safety in the execution of work/ operational tasks. Demonstrate Safety Leadership behaviour by the following: - Provide authentic and visible leadership in the areas of HSSE for Hard services delivery with emphasis on safety and security systems, building / office emergency response, etc.
- Ensure and support compliance safety - No fatality, Incident free.
- Ensure regular assurance reviews are carried out, findings disseminated, and actions followed up.

| EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS | |
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant Engineering degrees (Subsea / Petroleum / Chemical). A master’s degree in engineering will be an added advantage.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT | |
Identify parameters which are deemed indispensable for the jobholder - Minimum of 10 years of professional and relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with a track record of engineering design, construction, commissioning, and operations of Oil & Gas facilities. Five years’ experience or more in a similar role will be an added advantage.
- Must be able to manage and apply multiple concurrent field projects and work in a team environment.
- COREN registered, and if from outside Nigeria must belong to professional bodies registrable with COREN.
- Technical knowledge and operational experience with facilities and pipeline fabrication, piping materials and general construction practices.
- Ability to read, interpret and develop crucial engineering drawings, piping & instrument diagrams, process flow diagrams and upstream oil field process design.
- Ability to troubleshoot routine mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to generate novel ideas and leads in maturing facilities development projects.
- Prior experience of working and delivering within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Thorough knowledge of work processes and organizational structure
- High level of commercial acumen with strong general understanding of oil and gas business
- Strong networking skills externally and internally - ability to cultivate and build strong external relationships with business counterpart.
- High levels of creativity, persistence, curiosity, and enthusiasm
- Strong knowledge of conceptual design in field development including budget and schedule estimation and installation implication
- Awareness of CAPEX and OPEX estimation techniques as well as economic analysis.
- Demonstrated experience at a responsible level in multidiscipline design reviews (layout reviews, HAZOP, etc.)
