PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Support the organisation in the planning and coordination of projects, HSE implementation, budget monitoring, staff development and Value Delivery.

People

Mentoring and development of less experienced staff on petrophysics and related discipline activities

Processes / Procedures / Standards

  • Identification and implementation of minimum technical standards relevant to the petrophysics disciplines.

Projects

  1. Will support the organisation in the screening and acceleration of the maturation process and establish readiness of STOG activities for execution.

  2. Will support the organisation in the execution of STOG activities with a target of adding 20Mbopd in 2024.

  3. Carry out petrophysics reviews of reservoirs in support of subsurface activities.

  4. Provision of technical petrophysics advise into projects.

  5. Day to day QA/QC of petrophysics input into projects and support the petrophysics discipline head in the quality assurance at major project milestones.

Data Management

  1. Advice on the need for Well and Reservoir Surveillance / Management process for OML-17 in support of future STOG activities.

  2. Identify data gathering requirements – formation pressures and samples (RFT, MDT etc.), fluid contacts (e.g., cased-hole Carbon Oxygen logs), production logging Tools (PLTs), integrity logs (cement bond logs, noise logs, multi-finger calliper logs and others) etc.

  3. Plan subsurface data gathering activities and prepare data acquisition proposals.  Monitor/coordinate data gathering activities, including on-site supervision.

  4. Ensuring effective management of Petrophysics data used and generated in the organisation.

  5. Other duties reasonably related to the performance of the job.

JOB CONTEXT & KEY CHALLENGES

The OML17 subsurface asset consists of ca. 9 fields with ca. 220 wells. The field sizes, oil contents vary significantly from STOIIP of over 1billion to 100Million barrels in addition to sizable gas reserves. The asset consists of multiple data vintages from pre 1970 to mid-2000’s well data. This data vintage variation occurs in some cases, within the same field and across the same reservoir. The fields and reservoirs have a long history of production. Available cased and open hole data in the respective fields and reservoirs are acquired at various points during the reservoirs/fields production life and some of the associated fields have gone through multiple redevelopment cycles. Furthermore, the asset contains reservoirs that are still at the early exploration to appraisal, fully developed to almost fully exploited and abandoned reservoirs.

  • Some of the recurring challenges with the asset is the requirement to provide sound geoscience &engineering advice to multi-discipline/functional teams based on evaluation of available well and geological data (i.e., varied quality, quantity, and vintage data) for WRFM, WRS, STOG and new drill activity.

  • Identification, justification, and application of the relevant technology (e.g., petrophysical tools) in the minimization of operational uncertainties in field development and production.

  • On the spot capability to provide credible petrophysical advice using blueprint /PDF prints or actual detail petrophysical evaluation.

  • Capability to liaise with contractors and provide petrophysical services required to sustain production including STOGs.

DIMENSIONS (METRICS)

  • Responsible Petrophysical input for the maturation of ca. 20,000bls/day via STOG in the first year and sustenance of same number for the next 3 years via STOG, redevelopment and near field appraisal and development.

  • Responsible for the maturation and drilling of 12+ wells per year over a 5-year period for the organisation. The development projects range from $50mln to $150mln in CAPEX per annum.

  • Remaining recoverable volumes of 1.3bln bbls of oil + condensate and 2.4 Tscf of gas.

JOB COMPETENCES – SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & BEHAVIOUR

  • Highly competent technical professional with sound knowledge of Petroleum Engineering

  • Good organisational and managerial skills.

  • Good team player

  • Extensive Oil industry experience. In-depth knowledge of subject discipline.

  • Knowledge in related PE disciplines.

    • All the Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience discipline (Reservoir Engineering, Production Technologist, Geologist)

KEY INTERFACES/RELATIONSHIPS

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • Minimum 10 years direct experience in the discipline.

  • A B.Sc. Hons. or/with M.Sc./ Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Exposure in muti-discipline subsurface studies and field development.

  • Experience in WRFM and WRS and drill and completion activities.

  • Proficiency in using industry standard petrophysical software and data analysis tools.

  • Familiarity with reservoir characterization and simulation tools is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communicator able to constructively facilitate, integrate and manage processes pertaining to hydrocarbon development.
