Senior Product Manager

Our client is a WhatsApp\-first logistics and errands platform operating in a high\-constraint Nigerian environment — payments, geolocation, dispatch, unreliable networks, and real human operations. They are post\-concept, pre\-scale.

They are looking to hire a Senior Product Manager who will:

● Translate the founder's vision into a clear, executable product scope

● Protect the MVP from noise, bloat, and scope creep

● Drive daily execution discipline with engineering

● Ensure features work in real operating conditions, not just demos

● Reduce delivery friction and founder firefighting

What Success Looks Like

First 30 Days

● Product backlog aggressively prioritised

● MVP scope clarified and frozen

● Daily execution rhythm established with engineering

● Clear ownership assigned to every deliverable

First 60 Days

● Predictable sprint delivery achieved

● Acceptance criteria are defined and enforced for all work

● Reduced founder and stakeholder noise

● Fewer surprises, fewer escalations

First 90 Days

● Strong execution partnership with the Head of Engineering

● Product roadmap grounded in delivery reality

● The CEO is no longer firefighting execution issues

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Execution (Primary Accountability)

● Translate the founder's vision into a clear, testable product scope

● Write concise, execution\-ready requirements

● Define acceptance criteria upfront for all features

● Ruthlessly eliminate non\-essential features

● Prevent scope creep at all costs

2. Delivery Ownership (Shared with Head of Engineering)

● Track delivery progress daily

● Surface risks and blockers immediately

● Escalate early, not late

● Own missed commitments without deflection

● Ensure delivery commitments are realistic before they are made

3. User, Ops & Reality Alignment

● Balance:

○ User needs

○ Operational realities

○ Engineering constraints

● Validate features against real\-world operational use cases

● Ensure shipped features work reliably in the field, not just in demos

Technical Fluency Expectations

This role requires a strong technical understanding, though hands\-on coding is not mandatory. Expected familiarity includes:

● API\-driven systems

● Third\-party integrations

● Payment and transaction flows

● Location and dispatch logic

● Web and mobile product environments

● Agile / sprint\-based delivery

Technical fluency is required to make realistic delivery decisions.

Key Requirements:

● 5+ years of product management experience

● Strong technical fluency (ex\-engineer or technical PM preferred)

● Prior experience in one or more of Startups, Marketplaces, Logistics, Fintech or other ops\-heavy products

● Proven execution and delivery track record

● Comfortable operating under ambiguity

● Decisive, outcome\-driven, not consensus\-dependent

● Strong execution bias

● Comfortable working closely with engineers daily

● Calm and structured under pressure

● High ownership mentality

● Focused on outcomes, not ceremonies or titles

● Willing to say “no” to protect delivery

Note: You will be evaluated on what ships, how predictably it ships, and how effectively you reduce delivery chaos — not on seniority, documentation volume, or meeting count.
