Job Summary
The Sonographer is responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, patient care, and collaboration with medical professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimal patient outcomes.
Main Duties
l Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
l Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic images of organs, tissues, and blood flow.
l Adjust equipment settings and patient positioning to optimize image quality.
l Analyze images for quality and preliminary findings, reporting to radiologists or physicians.
l Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and image archiving according to institutional and legal requirements.
l Assist physicians during interventional ultrasound procedures as required.
l Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of ultrasound equipment.
l Comply with infection control, radiation safety, and professional ethical standards.
l Participate in continuous professional development and training programs.
l Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients throughout the procedure.
l Minimum 3 years clinical experience in diagnostic sonography or related field.
l Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.
l Professional certification/licensure (e.g., ARDMS, NIMLS or local equivalent). | - Ability to stand for long periods and assist patients physically.
l In-depth knowledge of ultrasound physics and anatomy.
l Proficiency in operating ultrasound machines and interpreting images.
l Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
l Ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail.
l Compassionate attitude towards patients.
l Willingness to work shifts and on-call hours as required.
l Commitment to continuous learning.
Salary Range: N200,000 - N250,000
