We are building what Deel would be if it had Duolingo’s learning engine and AWS -style multi -tenancy underneath—a category -defining platform for global talent mobility.
To scale this vision, we are hiring a Technical Team Lead who will drive execution, mentor engineers, and help shape the architecture of a truly global platform.
As Technical Team Lead, you will play a critical leadership role in designing, building, and scaling Utiva’s technology stack. You will lead engineering teams, ensure high -quality delivery, and work closely with Product, AI, and Operations to translate strategy into robust, scalable systems.
This is a hands -on leadership role, ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys coding, mentoring, architectural decision -making, and driving execution at scale.
Lead and mentor a cross -functional engineering team (frontend, backend, AI/ML, DevOps).
Drive sprint planning, code reviews, deployments, and release cycles.
Ensure delivery predictability, code quality, system reliability, and performance.
Partner with Product to scope features, estimate effort, and prioritise roadmaps.
Design and evolve a scalable, multi -tenant SaaS architecture.
Build and maintain core systems across:
Hiring workflows & talent matching
Learning automation & assessment engines
Payroll, wallets, and multi -currency payments
Compliance, verification, and contract automation
Support the transition to modular microservices as the platform scales.
Contribute to the architecture of AI -powered systems including:
Talent scoring and recommendation engines
Workflow automation and rule -based decisioning
Fraud detection and verification systems
Collaborate with AI teams on LLM integrations and intelligent automation.
Coach junior and mid -level engineers toward senior -level performance.
Foster a culture of ownership, documentation, testing, and continuous improvement.
Introduce engineering rituals that improve clarity, velocity, and accountability.
Enforce best practices in CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and system uptime.
Ensure strong security standards across authentication, payments, APIs, and data protection.
Support compliance requirements across global jurisdictions.

7+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in a leadership or lead role.
Strong backend expertise (Node.js preferred; Python/Go experience welcome).
Proven experience building and scaling SaaS or platform -based products.
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Experience with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
Exposure to AI/ML systems or automation platforms is a strong plus.
Experience leading teams of 5–25 engineers.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to translate technical decisions into business outcomes.
Experience in HRTech, FinTech, Payroll, ATS, or EdTech platforms.
Familiarity with global compliance, KYC, or identity verification systems.
Experience building automation engines or AI agents.
Unified architecture across UtivaLearn, UtivaHire, and UtivaPay.
Automation handles 70%+ of hiring and payroll operations.
Platform reliably supports operations across 120+ countries.
Engineering team operates with high velocity and predictability.
System uptime consistently exceeds 99.95%.
External partners onboard smoothly via public APIs.
Build infrastructure that powers global talent mobility.
