Vehicle Assessment Specialist

Job Description - Vehicle Assessment Specialist

Our Partner is building a better way to buy and sell used vehicles in Nigeria. Every car that moves through the platform gets inspected, graded, and documented so buyers know exactly what they're getting. The inspection centre in Abeokuta is where that process starts.

Our Partner is hiring a Vehicle Assessment Specialist to lead inspections on-site and remotely, grade vehicles accurately, and run quality checks on the work the wider inspection team produces. This is a senior, hands-on role. You are the standard for what a good inspection looks like.

What you'll do:

Vehicle inspections

  • Carry out detailed vehicle assessments at the inspection centre and remotely, covering mechanical condition, bodywork, electrics, interior, and documentation.
  • Grade each vehicle using the company's assessment framework so that every listing has a clear, honest condition report attached to it.
  • Identify issues that affect pricing, safety, or resale value and flag them plainly in the inspection report.

Quality assurance

  • Review inspections completed by other team members for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Catch gaps or errors before reports reach customers or are published on listings.
  • Maintain and improve inspection standards over time as the team scales and the volume of vehicles increases.

Customer and stakeholder communication

  • Explain inspection findings to customers, dealers, and internal teams in plain language. You are not writing reports for mechanics. You are writing them for people making a purchase decision.
  • Handle customer questions about vehicle condition with confidence and honesty.
  • Manage expectations when vehicles fail inspection criteria or need further work before listing.

You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • Several years of hands-on experience assessing, appraising, or advising on vehicles. Service advisor, vehicle appraiser, or inspection lead backgrounds are ideal. This is not a mechanic role. We want someone who reads a vehicle's condition and communicates it, not someone whose primary skill is repairs.
  • HND or equivalent qualification (minimum).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be explaining technical findings to non-technical people regularly.
  • Confidence dealing with customers face-to-face and over the phone. You set the tone for how the inspection process feels to the people going through it.
  • Ability to work independently, both at the inspection centre and remotely, without needing constant oversight.
  • An eye for detail. The difference between a good inspector and a great one is catching the things most people miss.

Preferred but not required

  • Experience with digital inspection tools or vehicle grading platforms.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian used vehicle market dynamics, pricing, and common issues by make and model.
  • Previous experience leading or training a small inspection team.

Location and working arrangement

Sango, Abeokuta, Ogun State. On-site at the inspection centre with some remote inspections as needed. Full-time.
