Job Description - Vice President, Investment (Private Equity)


Reports To: The Senior Partners

 

Our client, a leading West Africa-focused private equity investment platform is seeking an exceptional investment professional to join its Investment Team as Vice President, Investments.

 

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in identifying, executing, and managing transformational investments across high-growth businesses in West Africa while working alongside some of the region's most respected investment professionals.

 

The successful candidate will be at the forefront of investment decision-making, portfolio value creation, and strategic growth initiatives, helping ambitious companies unlock their full potential and deliver superior returns for investors.

 

The Opportunity

As Vice President, Investments, you will lead the evaluation and execution of investment opportunities across diverse sectors and geographies within West Africa. You will work directly with senior leadership, portfolio company executives, entrepreneurs, and institutional stakeholders to drive investment performance and create sustainable value.

 

This role offers significant exposure to:

§  End-to-end private equity transactions

§  Investment origination and deal execution

§  Financial modelling and valuation

§  Portfolio management and value creation

§  Strategic transformation initiatives

§  Fundraising and institutional development activities

§  Board-level engagement and stakeholder management

 

Key Responsibilities

§  Lead the assessment and execution of investment opportunities, including financial modelling, valuation, commercial due diligence, and return analysis.

§  Drive investment recommendations and support investment committee processes.

§  Develop and implement value creation strategies across portfolio companies to accelerate growth and operational performance.

§  Oversee portfolio company performance and support management teams in delivering strategic objectives.

§  Manage transaction workstreams and coordinate internal and external advisors throughout the investment lifecycle.

§  Mentor and develop junior investment professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

§  Serve as the primary owner of assigned investment projects and portfolio assets.

§  Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, advisors, and other key stakeholders across the region.

 

 






Requirements

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a highly analytical, commercially minded, and entrepreneurial professional who thrives in a dynamic investment environment.

 

You will likely possess:

§  5–8 years of relevant experience in: Private Equity, Investment Banking, Management, Consulting, Corporate Strategy, Principal Investing, Transaction Advisory

§  A strong academic record from a leading university preferably a minimum of second class upper.

§  Advanced financial modelling, valuation, and transaction execution capabilities.

§  Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and delivering high-impact outcomes.

§  Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

§  Strong leadership qualities and experience mentoring junior team members.

§  A genuine passion for investing, business building, and economic development in Africa.

 

Preferred Qualifications

§  Experience working within emerging markets, particularly Nigeria and/or Ghana.

§  Exposure to private equity, principal investing, venture capital, or corporate development transactions.

§  Fluency in French is an advantage.

§  Professional certifications such as CFA, ACA, ACCA, MBA, or equivalent are beneficial.
