As a response to a significant market pull from our clients, we are now looking for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to strengthen our technical support competence and capacity.

Senior Automation Engineer

As Gapit Nordics continues to scale, we are now looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join our team and help develop modern automation solutions for our clients. 

In this role, you will be working in a dynamic environment with a high degree of freedom and influence over your daily work. You will be given responsibility and ownership, typically for a dedicated customer, where you follow projects from idea to implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Development:
  
  
  • Lead and mentor team members in automation projects.
  
  
  • Act as a key resource in the team, filling competence gaps and supporting colleagues in their development.
  
  


• Project Execution and Quality:
  
  
  • Ensure high quality and efficiency in projects, with a strong focus on energy optimization and data center systems (PMS/BMS).
  
  
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to innovation within the company.
  
  


• Customer Collaboration:
  
  
  • Collaborate closely with customers to deliver tailored automation solutions.
  
  
  • Provide technical guidance and support throughout project delivery.
  
  


• Automation and Control Systems:
  
  
  • Work with PLC programming, automation, and OT/IT convergence to optimize control systems.
  
  
  • Design, configure, and maintain automation systems, including HMI solutions.
  
  


• Commissioning and Implementation:
  
  
  • Conduct on-site commissioning, testing, and system implementation.
  
  
  • Deliver key components throughout the project lifecycle, from system architecture to troubleshooting, ensuring successful execution and optimal performance.
  
  

Candidate Profile

For this position, we are looking for someone who is open, courageous, and inclusive. Strong communication skills and the ability to foster a positive work environment are essential. You should be eager to contribute to a culture of learning and teamwork, bringing technical curiosity and a drive for innovation to the role. A Certificate of Apprenticeship is also highly valued

We also believe you have the following qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in programming and automation, including Codesys and structured text.


• Hands-on experience as an automation electrician or engineer, with expertise in power and electrical systems.


• Strong understanding of PLC systems, control system design, and project execution.


• Experience with HMI design, testing, and maintenance of automation systems.


• Ability to work independently, make decisions in complex situations, and drive projects from start to finish.


• Fluency in Norwegian and English, with a willingness to travel to customer sites when needed
