To lead and ensure the accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of payroll operations in Norway, in line with local legislation and company policies. The role is responsible for managing payroll processes, driving continuous improvements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders to support efficient workforce management and high service quality.
Job Description
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for Norway, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
Ensure full compliance with Norwegian labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory reporting (e.g., Altinn, A-melding)
Manage relationships with external payroll providers, authorities, and auditors
Lead and support payroll team activities, including workload planning and performance management
Maintain and improve payroll processes, controls, and documentation
Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and IT on employee data and system integrations
Ensure accurate handling of benefits, pensions, sick pay, and leave in line with Norwegian regulations
Monitor payroll-related risks and implement mitigation measures
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support payroll-related projects (e.g.,payroll provider and system implementations)
Provide payroll reporting, analytics, and insights to support business decisions
Handle escalations and ensure high-quality employee support and service delivery
You are meant for this job if:
Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related field
Extensive experience in payroll management within Norway
Strong knowledge of Norwegian payroll legislation, tax rules, and reporting (e.g., A-melding, Altinn)
Proven experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
Strong understanding of pensions, benefits, sick pay, and collective agreements in Norway
Leadership experience, including managing and developing a payroll team
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
Experience in process improvement and payroll transformation projects (e.g., system implementations)
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Fluency in Norwegian and English (both written and spoken)
Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit requirements
